About Us

'Our vision is to make strong contributions to the story of success in New Zealand's thriving horticulture industry.  We strive to create positive experiences for our customers and team members.'

Our Story

ARM Ltd directors Anthony and Jacki are horticulture 'lifers'. They each have 15 years hands on industry experience spanning Research and Development, Orchard Management, Orchard Development & Post-Harvest Management and Logistics. ARM is run from amongst the vines in the 'Kiwifruit Capital of the World' Te Puke.

Before Anthony and Jacki embarked on their primary industry studies at Lincoln University and Massey University respectively, they hailed from orchards in Hawke's Bay and dairy farms in Mid Canterbury.  They know first hand the pressures of running a business at the whims of unpredictable markets and mother nature.

Meet The Team

ARM is supported by an accomplished team of Bay of Plenty based consultants and project managers. We also have a large national network of external consultants located across New Zealand.

Jacki Pangborn - Director

Anthony's professional experience spans the onshore kiwifruit production supply chain.  After a decade long tenure in the post-harvest technical sector he has spent the last 7 years specialising in horticultural insurance, research, compliance, orchard development and orchard management.  He has extensive knowledge in orchard production systems, modelling, financial analysis and loss quantification.  Through his work he has developed a wide network of associates across New Zealand meaning ARM Ltd has access to specialists in all fields of horticulture.

Jacki has lived and breathed horticulture her entire life having grown up in a family of apple orchardists.  From 2007 she has been in technical, extension and grower services roles for post harvest companies.  Her strengths  lie in agronomy, plant science and project management.  She has loved the challenge of getting back to the grassroots of commercial production for the past 7 years.  Much of the culture of ARM Ltd stems from Jacki's personal values and philosophies.

Anthony Pangborn - Director

Bruce Shepherd - Consultant/Project Manager

Kiwifruit & Avocados have been Bruce's primary focus in recent times and he is highly regarded for his technical knowledge within both industries.  While Bruce has a very broad knowledge of all areas of horticulture, his specialist areas lie in integrated pest management, plant protection, agrichemical application and water management.  He also has an extensive working knowledge of day to day orchard management and the post-harvest sector.

Alexis Rolleston - Project Manager

Alexis is our coordination superstar.  She has worked primarily in science and innovation before post harvest and has an excellent knowledge of the compliance aspects of the kiwifruit industry.  Alexis performs key functions across a number of projects and more often than not is the interface between the research project and grower trialists.  She is the smiling voice on the other end of the telephone keeping things on track and running to time.

Mandy Paterson - GAP/GRASP Inspector

Mandy has almost 40 years' experience working within the kiwifruit industry. Having spent much of this time in post-harvest quality and compliance roles, before working at Zespri in Quality Assurance and most recently as Zespri Certification lead for both the GlobalG.A.P and Organic Programmes.  While Mandy is serious about compliance and certification, her personality and grass roots post-harvest background has prepared her well to enjoy helping, advising and chatting with growers and contractors with any GlobalG.A.P issues or questions. ARM is very lucky to be able to utilise Mandy's extensive skills and experience across both our compliance and research support service offerings.

Anna McManaway - Orchard Technician

Anna along with Gina, Micaela & Ali (below) are our orchard technician team, our heavy lifters at ARM.  They play a hugely valuable role both in the field and in the office.  Anna along with her big sister Gina grew up on a kiwifruit orchard in Te Puke. Anna is an orchardist, busy mum, netball and basketball coach.  When she gets spare time from all of these commitments she restores furniture.

Gina McManaway - Orchard Technician

Gina grew up on a kiwifruit orchard in Te Puke, 9 years ago she became the proud owner of her own Gold orchard and more recently added a new G3 development block next door.  Gina contributes to industry matters through her position on her packhouses grower council.  We don't know where she finds the time to look after her large blended family, industry commitments, orchard and still clock up the hours on ARM projects.

Ali Haywood - Orchard Technician

Ali is our go to implementer of projects in the field.  She is an incredible asset to the team working where 'the rubber meets the road' and always finds a way to get it done.  Amongst many other things she has experience across vine management, orchard sampling and dairy farming.

Micalea Lloyd - Orchard Technician

Micaela grew up locally on a forestry block in Otamarakau, and has a background in Business & Health Science. Having previously worked as an online administrator for local market kiwifruit and avocados, we are fortunate to have her as part of our team.
